The following names were drawn as winners of the 2020 SEIU Local 517M Scholarship Award. Winners were drawn at random from all eligible entries. This year there were a total of eight scholarships awarded of $500 each. The winners are:
Jacklyn Beller, studying Human Resource Management at Central Michigan University. The child of Arnie Beller of the Technical Unit.
Sheridan Leinbach, studying Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies at Albion College. The child of Abby Leinbach of the Scientific and Engineering Unit.
Jakob Loynes, studying Civil Engineering at the University of Michigan. The child of Michael Loynes of the Scientific and Engineering Unit.
Brooke Osterkamp, studying Computer Engineering at Michigan State University. The child of Kristin Osterkamp of the Scientific and Engineering Unit.
Nishi Patel, studying Neuroscience and Psychology at Michigan State University. The daughter of Vrajesh & Jayshree Patel of the Scientific and Engineering Unit.
Brett Potter, studying PGA Gold Management at Ferris State University. The child of Heather Potter of the Technical Unit.
Abdullah Salman, studying for a General Associates degree at Lansing Community College. The child of Najim Salman of the Scientific and Engineering Unit.
This scholarship is made possible through the effort of SEIU 517M members across the state who are public servants working in our schools, local governments and the State of Michigan.
