AFRAM Sponsors Annual Meeting Reception
The SEIU Local 517M AFRAM Caucus sponsored a reception on Thursday, July 21, 2011 in conjunction with the SEIU Local 517M Annual Meeting. Several speakers told of the impact that AFRAM has made in their communities and in their lives. SEIU International President Mary Kay Henry arrived and spoke to the reception. There were slideshows of AFRAM events held in the past year and what AFRAM plans are for the future.

Community Outreach and Family Fun Day
On Saturday, July 23, 2011 the City of Detroit members and AFRAM will be holding their annual Community Outreach picnic at Belle Isle Park, across from Shelter #5 from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. Come out and enjoy food, games, music, prizes and friends. This event is open to all SEIU Local 517M members and their families.
Detroit AFRAM Skating Party
The Detroit AFRAM Chapter of SEIU Local 517M will be holding a Skating Party on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at the Northland Roller Rink, 22311 W. 8 Mile Rd., Detroit, 48219 (West of Lasher Rd.) The event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $5 and skate rental is $2. Proceeds help fund ongoing AFRAM leadership training and local community outreach projects.
