Lobby Day a Success

The third annual SEIU Local 517M legislative lobby held May 6th was a great success.  Fifty members employed by the state, schools and local government from around the state meet with their Legislators.  Topics of their discussions included closing tax loopholes, public service accountability, privatization in our schools, and revenue sharing. Several legislators agreed to sit down for more detailed discussions about the issues confronting public employees.  Thank you cards were also presented to the 15 Senators who voted to save the state employee’s negotiated 3 % pay increase for fiscal year 2010 – 2011.
