Easter Party a Big Hit
5/6/08
On Saturday, March 22, 2008 SEIU held our 1st Annual fun filled Easter Party for the members and their families. The event was well attended over 250 members and their children came through the office. There were many memorable moments such as: watching the children chase the Easter Bunny through the office and the Easter egg hunt was an absolute blast, that we had two additional ones so all of the children could fill their little baskets. There were plenty of hot dogs, soda pop, cookies, candy and fun to be had by all.
There was a raffle held to help raise money for COPE (Committee On Political Education). The raffle brought in $160.00 and gave members the opportunity to win some great prizes.
We would like to thank the members for bringing their children out. We would also like to thank Sonya Meggs and her son for spending hours inside of that hot bunny costume and for helping make Easter basket. We had members from Saginaw to come down and help with crafts and games they were as follows: Betty Nash, Deirdre Miller, Karen Thomas and Antoinette Snow. Our Organizing Director Krista Sturgis brought her sister down to paint the children’s faces and there were a lot of faces to be painted. Thanks to the gentlemen of SEIU that came in and scrubbed and finished the floors and did all of the heavy lifting and hanging of decorations in the ceiling, they are as follows: Ricky Webb, Quentin Avery, Samuel Mastin, Marvin Cook and Henry Simmons. Thanks to Kinea Wright, Howard Grigsby, Brenda Green, Sandra Avery, Tracey Cavette and to Anna Johnson for helping with the decorations stuffing Easter eggs and making sure every children had enough candy to fill their Easter Baskets.
